Once you receive a prophetic word, please remember that some prophetic words are for the present
time and some are for the future. In 2003, a woman prophesied to me I would write books but I didn’t
actually write my first book until 2014! 1 Corinthians 13:9 says: “For we know in part and we prophesy in part.”
She was not given the revelation by God that it was to be for the future. I didn’t reject this word. I just
put it on a shelf in my heart and waited to see if it came true and it did! There are some
important things to remember when you receive a prophetic word.
1. When given a prophetic word, please pray over it
The devil will try to defeat God’s plan for your life. The Apostle Paul warns about this in 1 Timothy 1:18:
“Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once
made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well.”
2. Do not make any hasty decisions in your life based on a prophetic word
Especially if it involves a change of geographical location, a marriage, changing jobs, etc. Always
pray and seek God’s will about any decision. It is also important to remember God’s timing in your life.
Ecclesiastics 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Please remember to keep your heart pure so you can hear clearly from God. Ungodly
attitudes, unforgiveness and unconfessed sin can hinder you from hearing Him.
3. Seek Godly Counsel
The Bible says in Proverbs 15:22: “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
4. Ask the Lord for confirmation about a decision.
Matthew 18:16 says: “That every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”
5. Be encouraged to believe the word God spoke to you
Hold on to His words and promises. Hebrews 4:2 says: "For we also have had the good
news proclaimed to us, just as they did, but the message they heard was of no value to
them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.”
