God communicated with many people in the Bible through dreams, such as Daniel (Daniel 7:1-28),

 

Joseph (Genesis 37:5-7), (Matthew 1: 20-23).  God communicates with us

giving warnings, instructions, and helping us. 

 

They are different than night visions, which need no interpretations.  A voice usually is speaking in

the night vision that gives the meaning and message of the vision such as in Acts 16:9-10. 

God promises us in Acts 2: 17: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of

my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men

shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams…”

Dreams given from the Lord are like parables, using pictures and symbolism to convey hidden

messages.  These messages from God can be interpreted with the help of Holy Spirit.  Not all dreams

are God dreams, however.  Dreams from God can be recurring dreams or a one-night dream.  How do

you know the difference between a God dream and a regular dream?  God dreams don’t fade from

your memory easily when you wake up.  They are vivid dreams.  Your spirit may feel troubled when

you awake because you sense there is meaning to the dream.  Perhaps you keep thinking about

this dream.  It comes to mind frequently, nagging at you.
